LATAM Brasil and TAP Launch Strategic Codeshares

LATAM Brasil and TAP Air Portugal have officially launched a new codeshare agreement effective from the Northern Summer 2025 season, further strengthening the connectivity between South America and Europe. The move marks a significant step in deepening cooperation between two major carriers that have long served the transatlantic corridor.

Under this new arrangement, LATAM Brasil will place its “JJ” code on several TAP-operated flights from Lisbon (LIS) to key European destinations including Paris (CDG), Frankfurt (FRA), Amsterdam (AMS), Madrid (MAD), and London Heathrow (LHR). In turn, TAP will extend its “TP” code to select LATAM Brasil domestic routes, enabling smoother connections to cities like Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Curitiba, and Salvador from São Paulo (GRU) and Rio (GIG).

For passengers, the agreement translates into enhanced travel flexibility, better schedule coordination, and easier baggage transfers—all under a single ticket. Frequent flyers will also benefit from integrated mileage accrual and redemption across both airlines, thanks to their membership in oneworld (LATAM) and Star Alliance (TAP), via bilateral loyalty agreements.

This partnership arrives at a time of strong growth in Brazil–Europe traffic, driven by both tourism and business travel. TAP remains the leading European airline serving Brazil, with multiple daily flights to Lisbon from major Brazilian cities. LATAM’s extensive domestic network now gives European travelers a more seamless experience when exploring Brazil beyond the main gateways.

With international travel surging and demand for multi-destination itineraries rising, this codeshare is a timely move that solidifies both airlines’ positions in the competitive transatlantic market.

Travelers can already book codeshare flights through each airline’s website and travel agents for departures beginning in late March 2025.
