Azul Cuts Three Routes from Fort Lauderdale

Brazilian carrier Azul Linhas Aéreas is making major adjustments to its U.S. operations, reportedly cutting three international routes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). The move comes just weeks after the airline filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States, as part of a broader financial restructuring effort.

According to aviation site Enilria, the canceled routes include flights from Fort Lauderdale to Belo Horizonte and Manaus in Brazil, as well as Willemstad in Curaçao. These routes had connected Florida travelers with key Brazilian cities and a popular Caribbean destination, and their suspension marks a notable shift in Azul’s international strategy.

Azul’s decision reflects the airline’s focus on prioritizing its most profitable and strategic routes during this period of restructuring. The airline has stated that it remains committed to maintaining a robust network between Brazil and the U.S., including services to other major destinations like Orlando.

Travelers with tickets on the affected routes are encouraged to contact Azul for rebooking options or refunds. The route cancellations highlight the challenges facing Latin American airlines as they navigate financial headwinds and seek long-term sustainability. More adjustments could follow as Azul continues to reshape its operations in and out of Brazil.
