Brazil to Surpass International Tourism Goals Two Years Ahead of Schedule

Brazil’s tourism industry is on a remarkable upward trajectory, with international visitor numbers in 2025 already outperforming pre-pandemic records. According to Embratur and the Ministry of Tourism, the country received 4.87 million international tourists in the first half of the year—an 8.6% increase over the same period in 2019.

This surge puts Brazil on course to exceed its long-term target of 8.1 million foreign visitors by 2027 well ahead of schedule. If current growth trends hold, the milestone could be achieved as early as this year, signaling a major success for Brazil’s global tourism strategy.

Several dynamics are contributing to the boom. Increased international flight capacity, sustained marketing campaigns abroad, and a diversified range of attractions have made Brazil more accessible and appealing. The average tourist now spends 18.6 days in the country and spends around US$1,185—both metrics showing healthy increases and contributing to the local economy.

Marcelo Freixo, president of Embratur, noted that this performance is not just a recovery, but evidence of solid, forward-looking planning. Brazil continues to appeal to travelers seeking culture, nature, and adventure, with destinations like Rio de Janeiro, the Amazon, and Salvador drawing global attention.

With new investments in infrastructure and upcoming international events, Brazil is strengthening its position as a premier travel destination in Latin America. The country’s early achievement of its tourism targets highlights a broader trend: Brazil’s growing influence in global travel and its commitment to welcoming the world.
